 INSERT MOLDING

Generally, insert molding refers to the plastic encapsulation of a pre-fabricated component. The components, made from a variety of materials, through encapsulation, provide protection or insulation of component parts. We can apply our expertise in insert molding to help you:

  • Reduce part costs
  • Improve product strength
  • Eliminate secondary operations
  • Allow for design options
  • Lower part weights
  • Improve aesthetics

 OVER MOLDING

In the over-molding process, a soft TPE (ThermoPlastic Elastomer) is molded over a base of a rigid material. This process produces a soft feel to the product, as well as, improved impact properties and value added characteristics.

SMALL HOT SIZE - CLOSE TOLERANCE MOLDING

MacFam supplies parts and tooling to a world class high performance racing remote control (RC) manufacturer. One of the greatest challenges in molding these small, high precision, close tolerance parts is ensuring consistent quality and high performance. From a few grams to several ounces, each part uses highly engineered polymers, such as; carbon and glass fiber re-enforced Celstran, Zytel, Grivory and other "name plate" engineering grade resins and alloys.

  LARGE PART MOLDING

Our large part molding capability allows us to mold over ten (10) pound shots for customer applications ranging from reconditioned water cooler panels to RV door, window and step trims.

  REVERSE ENGINEERING

Similar to making a negative from a photograph, MacFam can take your existing part and create the tooling and processes required for precision duplication.

  MOLDING WITH COLORANTS

We pride ourselves on molding creative new color concepts from all types of resins to differentiate your products in the marketplace. We mold parts in literally dozens of different colors each month. Our extensive experience with matching, mixing, and inspecting colors gives our customers consistent quality colored parts with the right amount of colorant.
